What do stereotypes of African American poverty still persist?

From PBS: "The Black middle class has doubled and even quadrupled since 1965." Since most African Americans are middle class, why do some people believe that most blacks are poor (when in fact most poor people are white and live in rural areas, while poor blacks live in urban areas).

Just for the record I am a lower-class African American male, and at my college, I have met few (less than 3) black people who come from my social class (and the university is 30-40% black).

Why are Native Americans so poor nowadays?

USA has come a long way since the settlers first landed here. Yet, despite all its advancements, Native Americans remain a very poor and secluded society, living on reservations mainly with terrible conditions and no hope. No need to go to a developing country to find poverty- it's right in America.

Why is this the case? Does the government simply not care or just wants them suppressed? Does Native American culture have an affect on their poverty? Is there any hope for Native Americans in the future?

Please answer fully. Any inflammotory or discriminative comments will be deleted. Thank you.

How come there is so much hate for poor and working American families from supporters of Donald Trump?

"If the GOP wanted $25B for a wall they shouldn't have blown $1.5T on an irresponsible tax giveaway for billionaires and corporations. The GOP has sold out the American people and betrayed working families in order to line the pockets of the wealthiest." -Mike Levin-
The government shut down only formalizes the dysfunction that has been hurting ordinary Americans for decades. It is not a political shut down but a social breakdown. Fixing it requires a reassessment of value ... and values.
When wealth is passed off as merit, misfortune is seen as bad character. This is how ideologues justify punishing the sick and the poor. But poverty is neither a crime nor a character flaw. Stigmatize those who let people die ... not those who struggle to live.
