What is an 8th grade formal?
I would say the best way to describe an 8th grade formal would be between a Valentine’s Day dance and Prom. You can either:Ask someone out (what I did)Go with a groupGo stagIn America, there is typically a dress code where you have to dress decently. For girls, you had to wear dresses. Boys had to wear dress shoes, a tie and a collared shirt. A suit was optional. Here’s what your’s truly wore (sorry for bad editing skills):And yes, if you’re wondering, I am at Chic-Fil-A. My girlfriend and I decided to go there before the formal.This was the last and only dance I went to in eighth grade. We had it last Friday, May 18th. Some schools might have a theme. Ours was Willy Wonka-themed.Some schools will also provide food there. My school did that. To be honest it’s still a wonder nobody “accidentally” knocked over the chocolate fountain.What you’ll expect at a formal is pretty much a typical school dance, but, well, more formal. Unfortunately the trash music my generation listens to was the main music of the night. If you think you’re going to be slow dancing the whole time—you’re wrong. There was only one slow song. In June, my grade will be having a luau. It's expected that we wear sundresses, however I want a Formal and I will be pretending this dance is one. The dress code specifically states no strapless and no backless (guessing that means no tubes and halters, DANG). So, can you give me some links to dresses that meet these guidelines? What should i wear to 8th grade formal?
okay well, we have our 8th grade formal coming up in a week, and i'm complete clueless on what to wear. I would like something fancy, but not that much. and something not too reveling. i want my dress to be a little preppy, but not a lot. I am 5'4 , with a tan skin, dark brown eyes, and long dark brown hair. I do have curves, and small breast. i have dark knees. what type of dress will look good on me?

Hi, Depends on a couple of things. 1. How formal is this formal?2. Are you taking someone or going by yourself or with friends? 3. Will you be dancing and moving, if so how much?So really you want to plan your night out before you decide what to wear. If you are taking someone, you definitely want to dress to impress. If you plan to dance and move, you want something comfortable and non-restrictive. What I would suggest is that you wear a nice button up shirt and black formal pants. Make sure that the shirt is tucked in and that you are wearing a belt. I would also suggest a tie- not a clip on. From a girl's perspective, it will look nice and will make you more noticeable. If you don't want to wear that, I would suggest that you see what your friends are wearing and base it off that. Have fun!

An 8th Grade formal is similar to a High School prom, usually held at the end of the year for 8th graders and their middle school years come to an end. Since it's a formal, there will most likely be a formal dress code. My school had an 8th grade semi-formal. For that, there were simple rules such as no jeans, no shorts, collared shirts for men, and dresses or shirts with straps for girls. No t-shirts. If it's an actual formal, the dress code will most likely be more strict, tuxes, dresses.If you want you can prepare by figuring out what you want to wear. You can also ask someone to go with you, but going by yourself or with friends is fine!! You probably won't need anything too fancy like a limo.But if you are planning on going, make sure you have fun! That's the whole point of it, have a good time, solo or not!

If I were you I'd embrace your legs by wearing a short dress for starters. I also have an hourglass figure and most of my dresses are the type with the band just under the breast. I would either go with a tight-ish sparkly dress or a nice flowing one from the waist, and I think blue, pink, purple or any bright colour would suit you really well! As for your hair, I would suggest having it: -half up, half down -Curled and left as is -Curled with one side pinned up with a clip to match your dress or eyes -Straightened and left as is -Top knot I think it really depends on your dress, but for me, if I'm wearing a flowy dress I have my hair fllowing and loose, and if it's a tight dress I have my hair quite neat in a bun or something like that. What to wear for my 8th grade formal? guys?
No no no! Jeans are bad! Go to Kohl's or something and you can get nice dress pants. It is not mandatory to have a full suit for an 8th grade formal! My brother is going to his this weekend, and he got a lavender dress shirt and dress pants from Kohl's and they were very very reasonably priced!! My mom was very pleased with it. Try Kohl's or Target. He's not wearing dress shoes either; he got a nice pair of canvas sneakers from PacSun which actually looks so good! Don't stress, this isn't prom or your wedding or something! You need to look nice and put together, but that doesn't require you spending a ton of money. I hope this helped :) Edit: Oh yes, and you should wear a tie!
Is a limo too much for an 8th grade formal dance?
Our friend Tom Haverford and his one-man entourage Jean-Ralphio wouldn’t say so now would they?However, as a sane individual (we’re hoping here), I would say definitely yes. Save it for the prom. An eighth grade dance should be fun, not about spending all your money to impress someone. Unless it’s typical to do this in your town, it’s a definite “don’t” from me. It could potentially come off as awkward, since going all-out when no one else is doing so might make your date feel a bit uncomfortable.
