First of all, always stick to reading yaoi on a digital copy instead of a physical one when out in real life. The colorful covers attract the attention of young children. With the yaoi itself, I would normally say look for any yaoi that is more fluff instead of smut. That usually takes some time. The genre Shounen AI is a safe bet for bl without porn. To quote MangaRock “This genre is often synonymous with yaoi, this can be thought of as somewhat less extreme.” If you have difficulty then just stick to reading yaoi one-shots in the corner like you naturally read any other genre. (I’d skim through the sex scenes for until you get home just reading the dialogue for the meantime) If you act like you’re doing something bad people are more likely to get curious. Act like it’s just another book for English class. There is no 100% guarantee, but you chose the yaoi life and if push comes to shove you just own it. You aren’ hurting anyone by what you read and as long as you don’t cause children to ask their parent awkward questions you’re fine.

How old do you have to be to buy yaoi manga?
Urgh, yeah, I mean like, you could read them online, but I would actually like to purchase one. For example, at Barnes and Noble, they do sell some yaoi mangas, but I could never bring myself to like pick one up and read it there. I heard that you got to be like 18 or older to buy them. Is that true? Also, can you buy shounen-ai mangas if you're younger than 18? Please explain in full detail!

I’m 12. Should I be reading explicit yaoi manga?
I wouldn’t recommend it quite yet. I’d at least wait until you get into high school. Some yaoi is known to normalize or even glorify sexual assault by having the uke fall in love afterward which poorly represents queer romance by basically saying “rape’s okay if it’s gay or as long as he feels good”. Take some time to further develop a sense of what you will morally allow in the stories you read. You’re at an age where what you surround yourself with will heavily influence the person you become. It’s also the age where you least want your parent to walk in on you and see two d*cks on your screen.

It was about a boy who was raised in america and was going to live with his older brother that he hadn't seen sens he was like 5, but when he gets there he finds out that his father, brother, and his brothers roommates are all werecats!
