How can I apply for a waiter/host position on a cruise ship?

First and foremost, don't pay anyone to apply or help you find something. There are companies that claim they will help you find a position and charge you to match a line. Stay away.If you don't speak multiple languages, start studying now. Get a passport. If you already have certifications in CPR/first aid, marine certifications, etc., this will help. Other talents: singing, dancing, etc., may also help, depending on the line.Go to the companies websites. They each have a section on employment (it may be called careers, working for us, or something else). Read their procedures, and follow them.Good luck!

Do pilots or flight attendants ever get scared in flight?

Two quick personal incidents; I flew with a lovely Spanish girl called Marta. One atrocious night we flew through a lightning storm on route to Paris. The plane was damaged and we landed quickly after. Of course before we landed we were told by the flight deck to prepare for landing immediately and cease food and beverage service. There were only two of us preparing the cabin when there should have been three (it was a Bae 146 so very small plane) and we noticed Marta was missing so we stowed the cart and went to check to see if she was in the rear bathrooms. Instead we find her strapped fully into her crew seat, sat bolt upright in our ‘emergency brace position’. She was terrified. When she landed at our home port she resigned.Tale 2. I was ‘paxing’ (not working the flight but going to a destination as a passenger in order to operate the return sector back) along with a first officer in seats behind the wing on a small aircraft. We were cordially chatting and I was facing him and the window as I spoke, and he was facing me so didn't have a view out of the window. Coming into land I abruptly I stopped mid- sentence and according to him I went white as a sheet (I’m black)- after flying for a while you know pretty much by sound and feel when the wheels are about to touch the tarmac, problem was we were about to land but as I looked out of the window I could see way more tarmac than I should have been able to. This meant that the wing we were sat behind was tipped too far toward the ground, and if you want to see what happens when an aircraft wing hits the ground in-flight just go on Youtube. Needless to say, after passenger disembarkation, I went to the flight deck to ask what the hell just nearly happened, but I didn’t need to say a thing; the captain was drip white and shaking like a leaf.Yeah, they’re humans, they get scared.

What kind of travel benefits do flight attendants get?

I ’m not going to give any negative aspects, just the benefits, like you asked for.The Benefits:Some airlines let you have free flights. In my company I can buy tickets for 10% of the normal price, though I have to pay income tax over the difference between my ticket and the original one…Free food on board of the plane while on Duty.4–5 Star Hotels like Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt, Marriott, Pullman and so on, where we have other benefits like: free gym, pool, discount on beverages and food.Discount in most big hotels on the world. Even now I’m retired I can get hotelrooms for 50% of the regular price (like I said, the expensive ones). There is a daily allowance on the destination, that, wisely used, can not only cover your expenses, but also is a nice extra. One great benefit I got from my company was that I could stop working at an age of 55 and still get payment until my 63rd birthday, after which I will retire…. :)The PerksWith major airlines, you get to see many nice places, taste different foods, meet other cultures. If you are into photography, it is the best job ever, because the number of exiting new subjects is unlimited.Do you like to sleep? Well, nobody will disturb you if you are at a destination and you can stay in bed the whole day, watch movies, sleep or whatever and nobody will trouble you until an hour before pickup time. You meet some of the nicest people on the planet: your fellow collegues. Me as a male steward was often accompanied by beautiful nice young women and even though I considered most of them as some kind of sister, it was a joy for me to have them around from time to time.I love technology - computers and stuff… so I was lucky to be able to visit places where they were technically more advanced then in my own country. People at home sometimes couldn’t believe the newest developments I talked about (that was long time ago, before internet). I used MP3 long before anyone heard about it. In Bangkok you could buy a 10 hour CD full with music for less then a US Dollar!

History help please!!!!?

After Columbus' voyages to the New World, there arose the question of "Who owns the New World?" Was it Spain or Portugal? (The Native Americans weren't given a "say" in the matter.) How did Spain and Portugal resolve this problem?
