What Is The Effect Of Over Fasting In Lipid Profile

How will my lipid profile get affected if I do not fast or eat before one hour of the test?

People usually do a lipid profile to check out liver, and at the same time do a CBC (Complete Blood Count) and an FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar) to check for starting with diabetes. It is the FBS that needs the fasting, rather than the lipid profile. You might also be asked to do the Hb1AC test, as a more accurate way of checking for diabetes, and also more expensive. Whatever is happening to you, you must EDUCATE yourself on it all urgently. Since I am 70, and have 2 babies, and also diabetes and a fatty liver, I know a lot about it, and I have made single sheets of advice on each problem, plus diets to fight both. Same for gout, cholesterol, bad kidneys, pimples, skin cancers, prostate, allergies. I can send those to you, but not here. If you want those, I am Julian Andrew Gudgeon. In the last 2 weeks, there have been 4 major discoveries on diets, so I also made a sheet about those. Just today, they announced that a starvation diet will kick-start your pancreas. Learning about these things is now assessed at giving you 20 years extra life expectancy, so do not miss out!

How many hours or fasting are required before a lipid profile test?

Lipid Profile test measures the amount of cholesterol and other fats in your blood. Cholesterol and triglycerides are lipids or fats. These fats are important for cell health, but they can be harmful when they build up in the blood. Sometimes they can lead to clogged, inflamed arteries, a condition call atherosclerosis. This may keep your heart from working normally if the arteries of your heart muscle are affected. This panel of tests helps predict your risk for heart disease and stroke.A lipid panel measures these fats:Total cholesterolLDL ("bad") cholesterolHDL ("good") cholesterolTriglycerides, another type of fat that causes hardening of the arteries. Lipid profile test requires a 12-hour fast (no food or drink, except water). For the most accurate results, wait at least two months after a heart attack, surgery, infection, injury or pregnancy to check cholesterol levels.Clinitechlab is one of the best clinical laboratory to do Lipid Profile Test. It is NABL accredited lab has centres in Thane, Kalyan, and Airoli.

What are the effects of prolonged fasting on a lipid profile test? I fasted for 15 hours, and I am seeing very high lipid levels as compared to my previous test.

I don’t consider 15hrs to be ‘prolonged’ fasting. That’s less than one day. Rather than fast then return to your usual diet, I suggest that you skip one meal a week, or at least replace one meal a week with a very-low calorie meal like a salad or a bowl of not-very-rich soup. That’s what my doctor recommended. Unlike many doctors’ recommendations, this is one he tried himself and he has obviously lost weight. I suppose there’s a difference between losing weight and decreasing serum lipid concentrations. However, I believe that a mild diet that allows you to lose weight (assuming no other change in diet + exercise) would be reflected in serum lipid concentrations dropping. Also, you want your lipid level tests to reflect your long-term health, not the results of drastic dieting the day before the test. Doing something out of the ordinary for 15hrs before a test so that the results look good is cheating. Not cheating the doctors; cheating yourself.

Fasting is necessary for lipid profile?

Although there is a lot of conspiracy on this question. There is a huge debate whether is it right to fast before test or not. I would like to share a couple of urls :-1) Lipid Blood Tests2) Study: Fasting Before Lipid Panel UnnecessaryI hope this solves your doubt.

Lipid Profile Results?

Cut trans fats, take cod liver oil, eat eggs daily, and plenty of red meat. A recent study concludes that 126 is the perfect LDL. Anything higher or LOWER causes an increase in cancer. Another recent article studied cholesterol levels in hospitalized patients, half on statins and half not. Conclusion, those with the highest cholesterol, lived longest.

Can a person smoke if they are fasting for lipid/blood count?

If she is a former RN why the heck is she smoking anyway? Forget the blood work results and remind her that it causes heart disease and lung cancer, or did she forget that. If her lab results come back abnormal she will have to deal with the consequences.

To give a brief, I am a 34 year old non-smoker male. Have a heredity of Heart problems in my family ( Grand father, father ..). My Blood Sugar is very normal and within range.

Any expert advice is appreciated.

Blood tests: CMB, CMP, Fasting Lipid Panel.. whats all this really mean?!?

I took a blood test, i dont know why i was getting tested, my mom has some worries about me (and wont discuss them?) hard to explain, bad family dynamic..

but i got tested for ..

-CBC
-CMP
-Fasting Lipid panel
-Varicella titer
-thyroid panel
-prolactin, LH, FSH, estrogen

Firstly, do you know if this sounds like they were testing for anything specific, or is this pretty general tests? And also, they never called back, which means everything was good on the tests.. i know obviously it means good if theyre all good, but if these things are all good, is that common? or very good? like for example, if there had been something wrong with one of these, would it mean there was some type of serious problem?
